dc.description.abstractLarge scale network disruption often lies at the heart of regional blackouts, and often disrupts entire communities in terms of their normal activities and well being. Recognizing the threat posed by such disturbances, much engineering effort goes towards the combat of such events, often neglecting the potential of such events as a rich source of information that can be used effectively in the improved management of power systems in reference to emergencies. This paper focuses on these secondary benefits and suggests possibilities of areas of specific interest that could be explored for future enhancements in the tactics and strategies for effective power system managementen_US
