Abstract
This
article examines the relationship between emotional woundedness and faith estrangement.
Trust issues towards God often emerge in the heart of the believer when left vulnerable and
in shock due to unforeseen trauma. The dilemma is that this condition leaves the wounded
person more vulnerable. With a view to bringing healing and deeper faith, different trauma
intervention models are evaluated and the role of forgiveness, retribution and faith are
examined. In conclusion, some guidelines regarding a holistic approach in the pastoral
counselling of the traumatised faith-estranged person are presented
