The inhibition of the corrosion of aluminium alloy in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution by 8-hydroxyquinoline has been studied using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization, scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Inhibition efficiency was found to increase up to 96% in presence of 8-Hydroxyquinoline + H₂O at 5.52 mmol/L. Values of inhibition efficiency calculated from potentiodynamic polarization, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) are in good agreement. The adsorbed film on aluminium alloy surface containing inhibitor was confirmed by the SECM, SEM results. The results obtained showed that the 8-Hydroxyquinoline could serve as an effective inhibitor of the corrosion of aluminium alloy in 3.5% NaCl solution.
