Abstract
THE HUMAN RESOURCES PLANNING PROCESS : A MECHANISM FOR THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF COMMITMENT TOWARDS ACHIEVING STRATEGIC
BUSINESS OBJECTIVES
Theories of organisational commitment are often held up as guidelines for
effective management. The relationship between the various forms of
commitment and the levels of effectiveness and competitiveness of
organisations, has been conceptualized and has even become the subject of
empirical research. However, major changes in micro- and macro-organisational
environments and the availability of more recent commitment
models and theories, in particular the Aligned Commitment Model, as well as
a greater emphasis on participitive management, call for a renewed
evaluation of the relationship between commitment and organizational
effectiveness.
The primary objective of this research is to determine the relationship
between human resources planning and aligned commitment to
organisational business objectives as a means of achieving organisational
effectiveness.
The results of this study indicate, that integrated human resources planning
is indeed related to the achievement of aligned commitment to business
objectives.
