    Abstract
This piece of work is aimed at identifying the various elements of Competence (like for example qualification and experience) and placing it in context with each other. as well as placing Competence together with some other elements in context with Performance. The Competency Model (Figure 3.4 p.25 and Figure 3.5 p.27) developed in this work. serves as a structured tool that can be used for : • obtaining a holistic and generic perspective on Competence; • conducting a self evaluation exercise to guide self development efforts; • comparing people with each other, on a more objective and comprehensive basis; • placing qualification, experience, background, motivation, attitude, training, etc. in context to each other and in context with Competence and Performance; • not only evaluating the current level of Competence but also predicting the growth potential of the Competency Curve as well as predicting the maintenance of Sustained Development.
